Explaining GDC and Handling Questions¶
This page helps Affiliates and team members respond to common questions about GDC. Keep explanations accurate, avoid over-promising, and do not add guarantees beyond the program rules.
Explaining high quotes¶
When people ask why quotes are high, first explain that the quote is not the final cost.
GDC works on a different mechanism than traditional insurance. The member's actual costs include:
- 20% service fee.
- Total sharing contributions during the validity period.
Weekly sharing contribution depends entirely on actual losses incurred within the community. If no losses occur, no weekly contribution is required. The quote represents only a potential sharing contribution, not an actual expense.
GDC encourages members to drive safer and minimize accidents. When a member has an accident, they pay out-of-pocket expenses first, then use remaining balance for the repair. Any remaining gap is shared pro rata by other members based on remaining balance.
GDC only accepts good drivers to help minimize loss costs for all members, and it works to reduce repair costs through the in-circle body shop network while maintaining quality.
Members who think quotes are high can choose to get a quote from Progressive, and GDC might do a price match for that quote.
Explaining why the full repair shop list is not shown¶
GDC partners with Innovation, a leading repair shop alliance that covers more than 5,000 repair shops nationwide.
In the event of an accident, GDC contacts the member and provides a list of nearby in-network repair shops, including addresses and phone numbers. The member can choose the most convenient option.
The full list of repair shops is proprietary to Innovation and considered a trade secret, so it cannot be shared in its entirety.
Explaining why savings cannot be guaranteed¶
GDC cannot guarantee the percentage members can save because savings are created by members and community behavior, not directly by GDC.
Key points:
- GDC charges a 20% flat service fee, leaving 80% as pledge amount still held by members.
- Some pledge amount may be contributed to weekly sharing for real losses.
- Remaining pledge balance becomes the member's savings at the end of term.
- The less accidents members have, the more members can save.
- GDC is a Good Driver Club that only accepts good drivers.
- GDC's mechanism encourages safe driving and accident avoidance.
- GDC only allows repairs in the in-circle body shop network, and scale may help negotiate further discounts.
Members can refer friends to join and earn referral rewards, but this should be presented as a possible additional income source, not as a guarantee or a way to cover GDC spending.
Explaining switching from insurance to GDC¶
Users can enroll in the GDC Plan while their existing insurance is in effect. The latest effective date can be up to seven days after payment.
During the period after payment but before the plan becomes effective, users can earn referral rewards.
If potential members cancel collision and comprehensive coverage from their current insurer, the insurer may refund pro-rated unused premium. Some carriers may charge early cancellation fees deducted from the refund. Users should check with their insurer for exact policy terms.
Do not imply insurance replacement
Do not imply that users can stop legally required liability insurance. Members must maintain valid state-mandated liability insurance.
Team communication and KOL cautions¶
Affiliates can connect with team members through commonly used social media apps, phone, and email.
For KOL promotion, three important requirements apply:
- It is prohibited to say GDC is insurance, because GDC is not an insurance product.
- It is prohibited to over-promise.
- It is prohibited to obtain rewards illegally.
Violations may result in punishment or cancellation of affiliate qualifications.
