Enrollment, Quotes, and Plan Lifecycle¶
This page explains how a user joins GDC, gets a quote, manages plan timing, renews, terminates, or deletes an account.
Joining GDC¶
GDC operates on an invitation-based model. A user first needs to receive a referral code from an existing GDC member or affiliate to join.
Joining flow:
- Download the GDC app and sign up using a phone number.
- Request a quote.
- Before getting a quote, prepare a PDF document of the current or renewal auto insurance declarations page and the driver's license.
- Enter the ZIP code listed on the liability insurance declarations page. It must be a U.S. ZIP code. If the ZIP code listed on the liability insurance declarations page is in Hawaii, Alaska, New York, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island, the user cannot continue.
- Upload either a declarations page in PDF format or multiple images. If uploading images, use good image quality and correct page order.
- Wait while AI parses the policy.
- Confirm or input vehicle information, including available vehicles, vehicle usage, annual mileage, and related details.
- Confirm or input holder information, including name, gender, date of birth, and related details.
- Review driver and vehicle information and request a quote.
- Choose an effective date and out-of-pocket amount.
- Enter the referral code.
- Upload the driver's license.
- Create a 6-digit PIN.
- Provide a notification email address to receive plan-related updates.
- Complete checkout.
Users can usually obtain the declarations page PDF by contacting the insurance company by phone and requesting that it be sent by email. Additional guide: https://gooddriver.super.site/quote/tutorial-for-obtaining-the-declarations-page.
Quote handling and effective dates¶
If the client provides a policy that is about to come into force, the GDC platform can successfully quote.
A successful quote cannot be manually canceled. It automatically expires after 7 days.
When enrolling in a GDC Plan, the latest effective date can be up to seven days after payment. Once payment is processed, the effective date cannot be altered.
After successful joining, the GDC plan becomes active at 12:00 AM midnight on the selected effective date.
Plan term and sharing participation timing¶
Every GDC Plan has a validity period of 6 months.
GDC publishes eligible events every Monday. Weekly sharing contributions for those events are deducted the following Monday.
Once a plan takes effect, the member first goes through a Monday announcement before beginning to share. If a publication date falls before the plan is effective, the member is not required to contribute for those events.
If an event occurs before a member's plan expires but is announced after the plan has ended, the member does not share that cost. This ensures members only share costs for events announced during their active plan period.
There are no extra points for the first renewal within the year 2024.
Renewal¶
Thirty days before the existing GDC Plan expires, the member receives an email notification with all transactions during the effective period, including total service fee, sharing contributions, and remaining pledge balance.
At renewal, a new quote is calculated based on previous data and adjusted based on inflation, accident history, and driving habit score during the previous 6 months. 20% of the new quote is the service fee paid upfront for the next term.
GDC automatically deducts the renewal service fee 15 days before the existing GDC Plan expires. To cancel this deduction and stop renewal, the member can manually disable Auto Pay starting 21 days before expiration.
If Auto Pay is canceled, the member must manually complete future renewal payments. If the renewal fee is not paid before the current plan expires, the renewal fails.
Members are not always eligible to renew. Non-renewal conditions include:
- The car age exceeds 18 model years for domestic and European coupe/sedans or exceeds 23 model years for all other vehicles.
- The member applied for two or more eligible events in the past 6 months, excluding the first instance of glass-only damage event and any repair-only glass event.
- There is evidence of fraud or suspicion of fraud as judged by GDC.
Renewal quotes appear in the Dashboard section of the GDC App. The renewal payment page may show:
- Pay: Quick Pay using the latest authorized payment method on file.
- Review & Edit: lets the member review renewal details, change eligible renewal options, enter checkout, select another payment method, add a new card, or use Apple Pay / Google Pay where available.
Termination, cancellation, and vehicle changes¶
Plan termination flow:
- Go to the Dashboard page in the GDC app and select the plan.
- On the plan details page, tap Manage Plan at the bottom and enter the PIN.
- On the Manage Plan page, select the option to terminate the plan.
- Enter the PIN again and select Terminate Now.
A member cannot have any ongoing accidents in process when quitting. Otherwise, the system will not allow termination.
If a member quits GDC before the plan starts, the service fee is refunded in full. Once the plan takes effect, the service fee is non-refundable because it is collected in exchange for services provided when the member joins.
Weekly sharing contributions already made for other members during membership are non-refundable. Remaining pledge balance does not need a refund because it was never actually paid. Once the GDC Plan is canceled, the remaining pledge balance is also canceled.
If a member sells the vehicle, the GDC Plan is no longer valid and the member should inform the platform to terminate the existing plan.
If a member changes vehicles after joining, they need to withdraw from the current GDC Plan manually. To enroll the new vehicle, they must obtain a new quote and complete enrollment again.
Account deletion and inviter relationship after rejoining¶
Account deletion can be initiated in the GDC app. Process:
- Open the GDC App and tap the profile in the top-left corner.
- Go to Privacy & Security and select Delete Account.
- Read the Account Deletion Notice and confirm deletion.
- Enter the verification code and confirm deletion again.
- After successful deletion, the system redirects to the login page.
Before account deletion can proceed, these conditions must be met:
- All GDC Plans associated with the account are in a completed state.
- There are no ongoing events associated with the account.
- Withdrawal-eligible invitation rewards balance is $0.
- Pending invitation rewards is $0.
The data processing period typically takes 30 days. If the user has made a reward withdrawal, the process can take up to 90 days. If additional time is required for other reasons, the user may be notified and the period may be extended up to 90 days.
Logging in again during the data processing period cancels the deletion process. Once deletion is complete, the user can sign up again with the same information.
If a user has already been a member before, the account remains linked to the original inviter. The user must wait 6 months after initiating account cancellation before switching to a different inviter.
